Mark MacDonald on MY FOX ATLANTA

Posted by Levine Communications Office on May 19, 2011

A book by Mark Macdonald isn’t about counting every calorie. It’s about getting control of your metabolism. He says that’s the real key to getting in shape.

“Everyone starts something and they think, What do I have to give up? What do I have to cut? You shouldn’t have to cut anything!” said Mark Macdonald.

“You don’t have to suffer, you don’t have to deprive yourself! You can learn how to take the foods you love and work them permanently into your world.”

“Every time you miss breakfast, you are slowing down your metabolism. Every time you miss a meal, you are slowing down your metabolism,” said Macdonald.

Instead of eating just two meals a day, Macdonald says eat five or six smaller meals. He eats seven.

“Our body is a re-fuel-as-it-goes machine. Meaning that just imagine a car. A car needs to be consistently fed gasoline,” said Macdonald.

The key? Keep your blood sugar stable. To do that, Macdonald says eat every three to four hours, so you never reach starving point.
