Staying Motivated During Your Job Search

Posted by Levine Communications Office on December 29, 2010

As the economy continues to recover, US corporations have begun to hire again: just not in the US.  According to The Economic Policy Institute, a Washington think tank, says American companies have created 1.4 million jobs overseas this year, compared with less than 1 million in the U.S.  That paints a pretty grim picture for the nearly 9.8% of Americans who are out of work.

With few jobs being created stateside, navigating the job market continues to be arduous and the process can cause a great deal of stress.  But you can avoid the “burn out” by following a few simple guidelines. More Magazine discusses how you can stay motivated though you job search with a few simple tips in How to Avoid Job Search Burnout.  In the article, LCO Client and New York Times best-selling author Leanne Ely (savingdinner.com) discusses the importance of starting the day with breakfast as a way of keeping energy high during your search.  Check out what Leanne has to say and the other helpful tips in the article.

Dave Vescio is Taking the Media by Storm

Posted by Levine Communications Office on December 21, 2010

Leading man and LCO Client Dave Vescio is taking the media by storm appearing in several publications this month (and the month isn’t even over yet??)

Dave sat down with Exclusive Magazine, TOMI Magazine, and Geekadelphia to discuss his upcoming role in the Sci-fi thriller “Gemini Rising” (2011).  He also discussed the career risk he took in moving from journalism to acting.  His transition was emotionally motivated.

When recalling his military upbringing (his father was a fighter pilot in the air force) the actor who is also a veteran told TOMI Magazine, “ I joined the Army when I was 18.  I realized Wow I’m not really feeling the emotions of life that these characters in these stories are feeling in front of me.”

And he wasn’t content in hiding those emotions any longer.  Journalism called for him to impartial, stoic even.  He continued by saying, “I just wanted to truly feel life.  All the careers I had up until that point, I just can’t, you know?  In the military you can’t.  In photography you can’t.”

But now with over a dozen Sci-fi roles and nearly 50 appearances under his belt, its pretty safe to say that Dave has finally found his stride.  He can outwardly embrace his emotions and put them into the stories that he tells and the characters he portrays.

Check out these great in-depth articles about this extraordinary talent.  Dave Vescio is definitely one to watch in 2011.

Being “Small” is a Big Deal This Weekend: Small Business Saturday

Posted by Levine Communications Office on November 24, 2010

By now you’re probably already getting your game plan together for navigating through the crowds to seek out the steals and deals this Black Friday. But save some of your energy (and some of your dollars) for a new shopping day this year….Small Business Saturday.

This year small businesses are taking a stand to get their share of the nearly $460 billion dollars Americans spend each year during the holidays. And they’re getting help from a “biggie” in the finance industry.  Credit card giant American Express is offering a $25 dollar credit to account holders if they make a purchase of $25 or more at a small independent business.  Since launching a successful campaign on Facebook, AmEx’s Small Business Saturday Page has already received over 800,000 likes in the past two weeks.  And the campaign doesn’t end with just the promotion of this event. AmEx is donating $1 for every “like” up to $1 million dollars to Girls Inc., a non-profit geared towards empowering young women. It’s a pretty ingenious move on AmEx’s part; they’ve utilized social media to start a movement to stimulate main street while supporting an organization that develops the future leaders (and business owners) of tomorrow.

Speaking of small businesses, there’s one independent store that makes small their specialty.  If you or the special man in your life is 5’8″ or under, then you definitely want to check out Jimmy Au’s, a pioneer in the development of fashion for short men.

This operation is an example of what all small businesses strive to achieve; starting out in the back of car in 1961 to becoming the dominate leader in their fashion genre. And they’ve outfitted distinguished celebrity men such as Ed Asner, Michael J. Fox and Tom Cruise.  They make holiday shopping a breeze at jimmyaus.com (who wants to stand in lines anyway).  BUT if you’re in the Los Angeles area, this is definitely one store you should visit in person.
